All applicants MUST read and sign the following:
RELEASE AGREEMENT
I. I hereby grant
The Hollywood Symposium (hereinafter referred to as THS) and its agents and assigns, the
right to read and assess my screenplay for the purpose of judging a screenplay contest,
and for the purpose of considering my story material for possible film or television
production. I understand that the copy of my script submitted to THS will not
be returned, and that the script may be, but is not guaranteed to be, shown to third
parties.

II. I attest that the material
submitted is my sole original work.

III. I attest that I am at least 18
years of age.

IV. Should I become one of the
winners of the THS contest, I grant THS the right to use my name as well as the title and
story synopsis of my screenplay, in all forms of entertainment industry communication and
publicity that THS may decide, in its sole discretion, to pursue or issue.

V. I accept that it is my own
responsibility to register the enclosed material with the Writers' Guild of America, or
with the U.S. Office of Copyrights, or both. I am not waiving, and this agreement
will not limit, my copyright of the material.

VI. I understand that THS considers
a large number of scripts, ideas, and literary works, and that THS has many stories and
concepts presented to it on an ongoing basis and has a number of screenplay stories in
development. I understand and accept that many narratives can contain some similar
story elements, including but not limited to character types and locales, and that even
dissimilar stories and concepts may share one or more ideas or themes, or elements or
aspects which are not new, novel, or unique, or elements which are in the public
domain. I consent that I will receive no payment, screen credit, or other
compensation for any such similar story elements, topics and/or themes found in other
material.

VII. I understand that THS will not
acquire, option, or use any part of my submitted screenplay for any purposes other than
those herein stated without further consensual business arrangements agreed to in good
faith between me and THS.

VIII. I agree to hold
THS harmless from and defend them against all claims, demands, losses, damages,
judgements, liabilities, and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising out of or in
connection with any and all claims made by third parties based on any screenplay stories
submitted to THS, whether or not groundless. THS shall be held harmless against any
claims pertaining to submitted material or its content if unauthorized parties should use
them in an unauthorized manner. THS will only use my submitted screenplay(s) for the
purposes of a screenplay contest utilizing publicity, for consideration of further
business negotiations, and as an archival script sample, for which uses I expressly waive
compensation.

IX. I reserve the right to
submit this or similar material to persons or organizations other than THS. I have
kept at least one copy of all material submitted to THS. I understand that the entry
fee for each script is non-refundable.

x. If
I agree in this application to the possible public release of my e-mail address for
the purposes of contestant script promotion, I understand that THS is not responsible for
any communications with third parties initiated through e-mail or through
any other method, THS is not responsible for any business or contractual arrangements I
may make with third parties, and no endorsement by THS of any such third party
communication or contractual business arrangement is implied.

XI. If more than one person signs
this Release Agreement as the submitting party, all references herein contained to
"I" or "me" shall apply to each person signing, jointly and severally.

XII. I attest that I have read all
of the THS Screenplay Contest rules, have read and reviewed this Release in its entirety
and understand and agree to all of its provisions, and that no other promises or
agreements, either written or oral, have been offered by THS or entered into by me with
THS, and that no confidential relationship is established by my submitting the material to
